Stage 3: Launch Day

The big day finally came with beautiful sunny skies and a light wind. All rockets took off perfectly and returned to earth in a less than perfect landing.

Justins mom showed up and got to launch the biggest one. It flew the highest and landed a few feet short of S. Salina St.

A perfect ending to a great integrated math/science summer project.

Library Links

One of the biggest changes you will notice next year at ITC is the addition of a library, run by our new Library Media Specialist, Ms. LeFever. It will be housed in Room 215, and along with the computers already here, she is hoping to bring in lots of books and magazines.

I have a link to the ITC Library website posted on the top right, and Ms. LeFever is anxious to hear from you all about ideas for the new library.

Please spread the word over the summer to other students and email in with ideas on books, magazines, videos etc that you think will enrich our school and help you in your research or just to read over a break!

Drivers Ed 101

As more and more ITC students start to get their permits, its a good time to talk about the dangers of using your cells phones while driving.

Theres a big new report out this week that talks about the dangers and compares driving while texting to drunk driving.

What is big news is the fact that even hands free devices are not safe to use while driving. The research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration shows that there are “negligible differences” in accident risk whether you’re holding the phone or not. Hands-free devices may even increase the danger by making you think you are in control of your vehicle. The results show that its the lack of focus that causes most accidents and thats what happens when you are talking to someone.

Try this test to see just how distracting it can be.

And when you have some time I urge you to read this article, it could very well save your life and give you a whole new perspective on cell phone usage while driving.

This has been a public service announcement to all ITC students from S2S who likes to see you all ALIVE!

Searching For Herself

It may be summer, but Brittanys got another great one for us to enjoy:

Where am I?

I can run as fast as possible
But yet still stay in the same place
I can scream like a little child
But yet no one hears

Did I choose the wrong path a few miles back?

Wanting adventures
Can lead to mistakes
All I wanted was some fun
Now all I want is to stop and move on

Mistakes can’t be fixed
But the ones we make now can

Just by staying out of trouble
With a simple no it’s too late,
Or a no it’s not right
Can be more rewarding

Knowing I have listened to the voice inside of me
Will lead me to a peaceful place

Thinking I have lost a chance to do something different
Just leads into wonder

Is the road taken better then the road I left behind?

Passing signs that say…
Do not enter
No trespassing
Stop
Yield

But yet I have not seen any that say…
Rest stop ahead
Speed limit
Destination

Seeing people along the way
Leads me to hope
I am in the right place

But where am I again?

Im on a high way
With no limits
Never stopping to take a rest

Someone stop me
Before I run out of gas

Someone stop me
Before I crash

If I try to start a race
Stop
Tell me it’s not right
Make me look at the bright sky
Not just the hot cars passing by

I know you’re here for me
I just haven’t taken my eyes off the road
To see what I am missing

Pull me over
Before I get ran over

Hello and Farewell

As most people know by now, we have had a changing of the guard at ITC. Mr. Dittmann has become Principal at the Johnson Center and Mr Frazier is now Vice Principal at Henninger HS. Replacing Mr. Dittmann will be Mr. Matt Williams who was Vice Principal at Corcoran.

We want to take this opportunity to wish Mr. Dittmann the very best in his new position. We would not be a school if it were not for his vision and hard work, so it is important to never forget the role he has played at ITC. Both students and teachers will remember Mr. Dittmann for his strong commitment to the school, his friendly smile, his kindness and his office door always being open to talk to everyone.

S2S wants to extend our hand in friendship to Mr. Williams and we hope to work closely with him in making ITC the best high school in the district.
