Another Beginning

We begin the second half of the school year at the IT, by moving away from the Transition courses in Math and Reading into the full fledged curriculum. Along with that we have incorporated AIS classes into the afternoon schedule.

The new math text is pretty impressive in its use of technology and the web. Check out its website at Classzone. Stay on top of your math work with extra problems and puzzles.

Here is a quick update on S2S by our fearless director Jake:

First off, here at S2S we're very excited to have almost had a good first semester, but that's not why we're celebrating. It is because through the reasoning of the students, staff, teachers, and parents change has been brought forth in our small school. Yes, that's right we have advanced classes now, we're with new people, and boy-oh-boy this change didn't come a moment to soon. Between Jamci and I pulling our hair out over how easy the math was and other people constantly complaining about how annoying their class was, it was an okay first semester. Now of course S2S will continue to address the issues students have and we will try our best to keep the school running well. This semester, we have some very big plans that will be very helpful. For one thing we are going to start fund raising for the school, and lots and lots of other cool things so think about joining up!

Thanks Jake for the panorama shot of a beach scene from Cancun. Would have preferred a ticket myself.

This would also be a perfect time for me to ask for more articles and pictures from other students.

The Season Ends

The Tech boys basketball seasons ended today with a dissapointing 39-46 loss to Bishop Grimes. Overall despite finishing 4-9, it was a great start to what will surely be a fine tradition of basketball at Tech in the years to come. S2S wishes to congratulate Coach Bramoff and the players.

Enjoy a few pics shot at the last game. Click on each one to enlarge.

Life Changes

Heres a wonderful poem on making choices and remaining true to yourself from Brittany:

Life changes so frequently,

How can I keep up?

There’s so many things in this world,

What do I want?

So little time

To stop and think.

Ever since the weekend began,

I wanted it to end.

I tried to think of what I wanted,

Now there’s no right decisions.

I will admit I have no clue,

Of some things I do

I don’t want to be the girl

Who says “ I Do” if I don’t.

Life is filled with choices

Life is made of Happy Endings

That is why,

I’m going to stay who I am until I die.

Like it or not,

That’s who I Am

RIGHT?

A New Year Begins...

2007 is behind us and The Institute of Technology enters 2008 with lots of promise and excitement. S2S continues to grow in membership and ideas and this will be the year we put many of those into action.

Every new year people try to give themselves a fresh start with all kinds of well meaning resolutions. From quitting smoking and going to the gym, to doing homework and getting to bed on time, all these ideas are good ones. Many start of strong but fizzle out along the way.

So here are a couple of online ideas that might make your resolutions a little easier to keep until 2009 and beyond:

Try 43 Things to list your resolutions and meet others with these same aspirations.

Or how about Hassle Me, a site that will send you random emails to remind you that you are slipping up!

Still think you cant keep those resolutions? For all you procrastinators how about getting a PING on your cell phone or email to remind you? Beats a nagging parent any day!

So...care to share some of your New Year resolutions?

One of mine is to catch the Tech basketball teams final match against Bishop Grimes on Monday. See you there!
