An IT Student sent in an essay to the Post Standard detailing what he felt should be addressed by our next President:
Dear President Barack Obama,
As we go in history, we have seen great people, from Gandhi to Martin Luther King Jr. You, elected as president, is another chapter of our history and will always be remembered. I was undecided this election for the fact that you and McCain both could have been great presidents. But you won, so congratulations. I feel you represent all minority groups in some way. To me, you represent my homeland India, because of the fact that you are working with them. I expect you to be not just the first African American president, but the best president.
To me, I feel we should continue the war in the Middle East because we started something and we have to end it. I believe it's too late to end it now. If we do end now, all the soldiers that died for this country would have died for nothing. Universal health care is needed to be supported in which you are doing. Every wealthy country has this except for the USA. I also want to see the US to go on. We are in a recession and our unemployment rate is at its highest. The USA definitely needs change. We should also help not just ourselves, but the world. World Pollution and Global Warming are huge issues. We need an earth friendly environment to see this world to keep going. I can go on and on about what we need, but I believe these are the most important points.
We need a incredible president to turn this around. We need the hope and progress you promised us. Your pleasant smile needs to represent that this country will make a U-turn. At the end, I dream to see our country on the right track.
From an American Citizen,
Sanjeev Kumar

The Drama Continues.....
As everyone at ITC knows, we've been in limbo since we started here a year ago. The promise of a nice new greystone building for our future home looks dimmer and dimmer with each passing day. The best we are hoping for in the short term is an extension of our present location that will begin at some mysterious future date.
Heres the latest chapter in this sad story.
And Video.

Harold and Kumar go to SU
Well ok, Kumar did anyway! We went to see Kal Penn talk at SU's Asian Awareness Week. It was an interesting talk and the questions following the talk were even funnier! More on the talk here.

Science Town USA
Check out this video of the walking wishbone. Look closely and you will notice that he mechanical energy is transferred directly to the wishbone and it is pulling the entire machine along. The rear wheels are not powered. A very cool invention.
Its one of the many exhibits in the science museums in and around Boston. I've been to Boston many times, but never realized how many different science museums were around. They even have science resturants!! It should be no surprise really, since they have some of the best colleges and universities in the whole country.
Take a look at some slides of some of the best museums in Beantown.
(BTW the Walking Wishbone Machine could make for a pretty cool honors by contract idea!)

More Student Poetry
Destiny
By Sanjeev Kumar
Some people's destiny
Is to make history
Some are hard
Others aren't too far
With many obstacles,
It's going to be difficult
So I have to use my skills
To go up my hill
In my road to glory,
I will get my victory
With hard work,
I'll go beyond my goal.
I know what I have to do,
I won't be no fool.
Every single day,
I will riser higher
Closer to my destiny

Student Poem
Another touching new poem by my favorite poet
While You Are Gone
by Brittany
I’m all confused
Mad
Angry
Happy
What is happening?
Things are different
Starting to find the inner me
Getting closer everyday
With you not here
Makes things harder
Before you were my guide
Now you’re just my inner strength
Keeping me going through words of advice

President Obama
Barack Obama made history by becoming the countrys first African American President. For those of us who were old enough to vote, it was a very special day.
Read this for a good historical look at what this really means for us as a nation.
